REQUIRED MATERIALS: Achievement In Music Student Workbook By Karen Rogers (Levels 2-12)
Course Description:
This course explores music theory, preparing students in written and aural skills for the AIM (Achievement in Music) theory test and enhancing students’ overall understanding of various music topics. This course will be most suitable for students with target AIM levels of 2 through 8, but request for other levels can also be accommodated with special arrangement. In this class, students will be guided through the AIM Student Workbook according to their target levels. Aural skills will be practiced in the form of dictation, interval identification, chord identification, and more.

Teaching Methodology:
This class consists of 14 lessons, 1 midterm and1 final, for all levels. In each weekly class, students will be working on one lesson from the AIM Student Workbook and practicing aural skills in their level groups.
Classwork: Students will be working on their AIM Student Workbook. If the student isn’t able to finish their classwork in the given time, they are required to finish it for homework.
Classwork will be checked in class and reviewed until understood. If a student falls behind the set pace drastically, they will be given additional assistance, either before or after class.
Aural Practice: Students will be listening to piano playing of examples and identifying chords, scale/mode, intervals, etc.
